Is he/she talking about updates of "old" cars or cars that has ACP installed from factory?
I have my Niro scheduled for an update tomorrow here in Sweden and I have friends who has already done it!

Ja, hab auch so einen Bericht gelesen aber auf den Fotos sieht man hinten rechts den Batterie Deckel inclusive Luftschlitzen??
Muss nix bedeuten, is aber komisch

And no 12v reset switch on the third picture in the first link........
This is becoming i real mystery ?(

Edit: I just noted that those links/pictures are dated 11 feb 2016 - about the time I read about the Niro not having a 12V battery!

Looks as if Niro (and Ioniq) for the US market doesn´t have the 12V battery....... and that could be the reason why they have the 12V reset switch.

This Ioniq owner comments on the "flat-battery-problems" in Europe:

"I'm glad we shouldn't have this problem in the U.S. No 12v lead-acid battery here. All of the vehicles' 12v functions are somehow wired to a segmented off partition of the hybrid/EV battery. There's even a button to push to "jump start" your own battery by having juice flow from the main battery. I saw this when I test drove the Kia Niro here as well. Not sure of its usefulness as I don't understand how a part of the main battery can charge the other part. If the 12v piece fails, wouldn't there also have to be a problem with the main?"

The first reports about the Niro I read in early 2016 said that it didn´t have a separate 12V-battery.

Ich werde im April mit einem Boot am Haken (ca. 700 kg) über den Fernpass - Brenner an den Gardasee fahren. Dann kann ich dir mehr dazu sagen. Im Moment ist noch keiner mit Trailer unterwegs gewesen.

You will not meet an english Niro towing the same as you on your trip over Brenner :D

    Thanks for your email.

We would advise against fitting a towbar to the Kia Niro for several reasons.

Firstly, in order to tow, the vehicle requires uprated brakes and an uprated cooling system - both not featured in the Niro.

Secondly, the vehicle variant has not been homologated for towing, therefore any towbar fitted and used for towing would be illegal. If stopped as part of a VOSA inspection or by the Police, it could lead to a fine and possibly points. You may fit a towbar or frame for carrying bikes, but you would not be permitted to tow.

I appreciate that this isn't the response you were hoping for, but at no point have we stated that the Niro in the UK will be suitable for towing. Any information obtained relating to this, comes from outside the UK and is not applicable."

I hope this hasn´t been covered already in the forum

I haven´t used Niro´s navigation much, but I will in the summer, when me and my wife go to Germany -as we always do for some weeks every summer.

I have for the last 3-4 years used my HERE app on my iPhone and it works OK and has most of the necessary functions, but I am anyway looking forward to Niro´s bigger screen of course.

Of the things Tom Tom offers, I am most interested in the traffic info and the POIs. So......

Does the traffic info warn about "Staus" and "Stock in der Verkehr" on its own, or do you have to constantly check that yourself?
Do you get suggestions about alternative routes if there are traffic jams? If so- by voice or on the map?
Are the traffic camera warnings working OK?

The little I have been trying the POIs, I was asked to write what POI I was searching for - are there no easier way to find restaurants, parking, hotels..... instead of having to write? In the HERE map you just have to press some buttons for that. It gives you about 10 options: Parking, Petrol, Taxi, Restaurants.....

How would you rate the quality of the POIs?

Looking forward to your opinions! :)

I haven´t yet updated my Niro to Apple CarPlay, but I have two questions to those of you who have:

    1. Is the car charging the iPhone when it is connected på the center USB-port.
(Android users must connect to another USB-port to charge I imagine.....)

    2. When CarPlay is working, it has access to Internet without the need to activate shared internet access on the phone I guess - can KIA´s own navigator use the same Internetaccess to connect to TomTom etc?
Or do you still have to use BT for that?
